Odds & Ends

Monday, August 24, 2009
This past weekend, as I was working with Janele to coordinate the City Lights Church Free Clothing and Food Day, my second shooter did a shoot for me for The Bridge. They were having a VIP luncheon.

Apparently I like pictures of fruit, as seen above from the luncheon and of my pictures for sale at Crave and here.

Speaking of my pictures for sale... there is just one more week left before that gallery will no longer be graced by pictures I took in Europe or of fruit. Be sure to check it out!

One of my cameras is broken! Thank goodness for backups. Anyhow, today I'm off to the post office to let Nikon fix it for me.

(Enough links for you?)

Newborn Session

Wednesday, August 19, 2009
Here are a few more of the little one that I shot in the hospital last week. Now, she's home and the family is stunning me by their quick adjustment to life with two kids. This was done with a sleeping baby (shown here), my baby, and a 2.5 year old...not to mention me and both parents. I wish I could nap in a room like that.

This wasn't quite as peaceful as I was hoping, but I still like the effect. I'll have to try it again with a more docile subject. She was not quite sleepy enough for this one. :) Thanks, A, for letting me try anyway! Your trust with your tiny one is always reassuring that I'm not too crazy.

Fine Art Prints

Tuesday, August 18, 2009
This is just a reminder that time is almost up to see my fine art canvas prints on display (and for sale!) at Crave Coffee House in St. Louis. Their two month stay is coming to a close at the end of this month. If you have not made your way there yet, be sure to head over and check it out this week or next.

The fruit series, (each on 10x10 canvas) which would be wonderful in a kitchen, dining room, small cafe, or anywhere that needs a splash of color are for sale for $75 each or all six can be purchased at a discounted rate.

The European landscapes/cityscapes are each 11x14 on canvas and are perfect for decorating your home. The colors are fresh and vibrant! These are $100 each.

Here is a sample. A print of this image from the Czech Republic is actually framed and hanging in my home. I must say... it looks great.

Hiking

Monday, August 17, 2009
Every photographer would be happy if there was easy access to a great meadow near their home or studio, in which to photograph people in a vast expanse of tall grasses and pure outdoor lovliness. When the littlest member of our family and I took a trip to Texas, we met a woman on the plane, dear soul who sat next to us on a baby's first airplane ride, and anyway she is a hiker and told me about a trail near us which has a conveniently located meadow, open for traipsing and picture taking. Perfect. My husband and I like to go on short hikes.

We took our son on his first hike this past weekend. I think he loved it- if smiles, kicks, and giggles are his measure of love. I had no intention of posting any of the shots until I remembered that I was going to find this meadow, after all. And unless this nice lady's meadow was a soccerfield or this:
I totally missed it or it doesn't exist. I am still on the hunt. And since I live in a city, this might be a long hunt.

Anyhow, I got some "rave reviews" on some of the hiking pictures, so I thought I'd post a couple.

And lastly, one for kicks, just as we were packing up for home:

24 Hours in Black and White

Saturday, August 15, 2009
I went to visit at the hospital for these black and whites of the littlest Emerson daughter. They will have a more complete newborn shoot at their home, so keep your eyes out for the next set.

This picture of her feet was taken when she was exactly 24 hours and 0 minutes old. 4:35 pm.

Cloth Diaper Giveaway

Saturday, August 8, 2009
For those of you who do not know, the adorable baby who appears here often on my blog wears cloth diapers. Yesterday, as I was pulling his diapers off the line, I thought to myself that I needed to have a picture of the colorful diapers blowing in the wind. But I didn't take it. Now I wish I did.

I am entering a contest to win cloth diapers, from the Rocker Bye Baby blog. They're giving away 8 diapers and more from a variety of cool diaper makers. One of the vendors is called The Eli Monster, so you know it's right up my alley.

Out of the office (again)...

Friday, August 7, 2009
Headed to the other grandma's house this weekend. Kinda. More to see my brother who is in the country and to celebrate that anniversary I was talking about. :) But Grandmas and Grandpas are always a treat and they are who is letting me do all this fun stuff by taking the kiddo...

Speaking of which, due to the trip we were laundering everything and I couldn't resist. It was all I could do not to put 15 pictures up here. Laundry baskets make such great props.

"Way back When"sday

Wednesday, August 5, 2009
How perfect that today is Wednesday and I want to reflect on something that happened three years ago today. Therefore... "Way back When"sday. Concept courtesy of my neighbor, Anrazel.

August 5, 2006 I got married! Today is my anniversary.

To celebrate, I was going to put some funny pictures from the week before (all the prep stuff) and my honeymoon. But those are pretty bad pictures... So instead, here is one of my wedding pictures. These were taken my my previous employers at Lawing Photography, a wonderful local photography company. As a gift, they let me have all my pictures.
