Take me out to the ballgame

Thursday, April 26, 2012
I headed back to the ball field for a few more baseball portraits with Ryan at his home field.  We do not often photograph sports photos, so it was a good challenge to get some traditional photos with a bit of a modern take on it.  With most of my days full of sparking white dresses, tuxedos, flowers, or sleeping babies, a day with an athlete reminded me how far I've come since my days of thinking I was a high school athlete.  I've even lost the lingo... Ryan was a good sport and put up with me describing his poses while my brain fought with me for the words.  Great job, Ryan!

Ryan: High School Senior

Tuesday, April 17, 2012
Meet Ryan.  Senior at Collinsville Christian High School, student athlete, and I'm going to add natural on the other side of the camera.  His session was on a gorgeous cloudless day- but that sun is harsh- and he did an amazing job.
He let me experiment a bit with some lighting setups, and I am so glad he did. I love these!
I can't get enough of this one...

Casey

Thursday, March 31, 2011
From what I can see, Casey breathes music. She survives on it, thrives on it. This young lady is preparing to be a music teacher one day, and I can tell she'll do a great job!

A few more favorites from her Senior Portrait session.  She braved the cold (it was flurrying) in her spring attire, and totally rocked it!

 This one screams, "Casey!"

Here's shout out to Casey's sister, Abby, who came along for shoot. It was so awesome to see the love these two have for each other.  Casey told me that when she started smiling "for real" or laughing, it was because she was thinking of Abby.

Paige

I love to use locations to make a statement- about the personality of the person, about their favorite things, special moments, or a feeling evoked by a place. Paige's session was no such exception.  She loves to read, so what better place than a library?  I had so much fun challenging myself to use the space to create lines, colors, and depth that would create a perfect setting for Paige using books and the crisp architecture at Webster University's library.  Here are a handful of favorites from our afternoon of photo-fun!

Showing off her favorite heels...

And at the end of the session, she was willing to go out on a limb with me for a retro shot with her scarf. I love the outcome!- Definitely not your standard senior portrait!

Sami & Zach

Tuesday, September 7, 2010
Every time I think of these two, I want to start singing "Zak & Sara"-- but they are too young to know the song... but that's ok.  They are music makers all their own- in the marching band in high school!  Sami & Zach are two seniors that had their sessions done together.  We did a lot of personal locations and props, shooting at their homes, high school, and favorite park.

Here's a few faves:
