Engagement: Lauren & Doug

Tuesday, June 11, 2013
My husband and I are not really "regulars" anywhere. Not at a coffee shop. Not a favorite date spot. We don't eat spaghetti every Thursday. We do not have a default movie choice.  So when I find out that couples DO have those special places, special dates, special parts of their relationship that make them "them," I love to work that into our date for three on their engagement session or into their wedding.

For Lauren and Doug, I get to do that for both! Check back this fall for their wedding photos!

Not only does Doug love water, but they have a yearly date at the Boathouse in Forest Park, which is also where he proposed.
They told me during the shoot something about Doug loving wildlife, so I started snapping pictures of all the ducks I saw sitting around, but then things got interesting...
After I saw a duck try to eat his hand, I happened to get a picture with a bird flying straight at me (upper right corner),
and then it decided to stay with us for a little while....
Also, they are avid St. Louis sports fans, and so we took a walk near Busch Stadium for the second part of their date.

Congratulations to you both and I look forward to your wedding later this summer!

Caleb & Elise

A few weeks ago, Caleb and Elise were blessed with a gorgeous day to accompany their bright, peacock themed wedding.

It was an elegant, yet simple day which they enjoyed with their family and dear friends.

I loved that when I went to grab a few shots of Caleb before the ceremony began, hoping for something real, candid, and him just being him, I found him standing quietly behind stage in the dark with his dad, who was officiating the ceremony.
I love Elise's expression as she listens to the speech by her twin sister, Nikki. (Gotta love her name, you know...Both of our parents must have had good taste. I also had a dear friend, Elise, when I was a young girl. Nikki & Elise's sure make a good combo.)
And then Caleb's expression to his Best Man's speech is priceless!
 Off for some portraits.
Incredible veil action here up on Art Hill. I was hoping for some subtle clouds and a breeze. We got both!
And I have one more surprise picture for Caleb (I know, Caleb, you are so excited for it, right?), but I am waiting to get permission to use part of it first.  So this post might get an addendum in a week or two.
