I am sort of back in the office after the big move- (pictures soon to come)... though I am still trying to gear back up for real life. I had better get a move on, as I have several sessions in the next week or two. I finally got internet tonight, so I feel more like I can do my work again.
But...
I lost my calendar in the move. I'll do my best to confirm what I know from memory and what I can figure from my email. I apologize in advance if I miss something. Sheesh. I hope I find it.
Just wanted to throw in an update as I try to re-orient myself for a new phase of my life.
Seniors: Eat A Lemon!
Friday, March 26, 2010
UPDATE: this limited time offer for a free session is no longer available, but read on anyhow. you can still get a free set of wallets...
A while ago, I started running a special for high school seniors to get free senior portraits! "Free?!" you say. Yes! For a limited number of high school seniors, I am doing free senior sessions if you eat a whole lemon at your consultation, while I take a few promo pictures. For other seniors, if you eat just one slice, you can have a free set of wallets. Good deal, eh?
And clever, too. Get it? Purple LEMON Photography... Yup, I am that clever. (note: yes, brother, I know that "clever" where you live, off in the UK, is not the same.)
I am pleased to announce Kristen as my first dare-devil to take me up on the deal. Her session is set for about 10 days from now, so in the next few weeks, keep your eye out for this lovely young lady! I have grandiose plans for this set of pictures, but for now here are three from her lemon-devouring experience.
Thanks, Kristen!
Be looking out for our next post. We'll finally be revealing our new home and office!

Taylor

This past weekend I got to photograph a beautiful young girl, Taylor. Even though I was sick and probably should have been sleeping, her captivating eyes had me editing as soon as I got home. Though shy at the beginning, she still knew how to look deep into the heart of the camera for some stunning pictures of her big blue eyes! And that red hair!
It was yet another rainy day shoot for me, but our plan to photograph at Taylor's house ended up being perfect as I got to see her in her own element. I had a hard time picking pictures, so my husband helped me and chose his favorites.

We played with a hairdryer for a windy look. Doesn't she look so grown up?
She matched her bathroom. How cool is that? Though we have some great playful pictures in here, I loved this quiet expression on her face with such a vibrant setting.
A new home, part 1

It might seem quiet around here these days (quiet as a mouse), but quiet it is not. We are moving, you see (moving to a new house). I've been working hard to arrange our move as well as keep up with all my clients as winter comes to a close. Tons of prep work for the upcoming shooting season.
Now that Elisha is 14 months old and we are two weeks away from our big move, I finished his nursery today. A friend (way back at baby shower time) asked me to take pictures of the nursery. I never did because it was never complete. But today, it is. I finally finished by painting the toychest to coordinate with his room. And oh how I love free paint (and where I got the paint - Habitat for Humanity ReStore).

As we prepare for our move, I am painting furniture with free paint and testing colors (and finding them not quite what I expected).
We have empty shelves and boxes as well as shelves filled with boxes, and we have even more boxes than that.
Purple Lemon Photography is moving, and we're getting packed and ready to go. You might be wondering where we are moving, but that is another tale to be told. We'll show you around real soon.

I received a phone call yesterday in which someone (you'd better be reading this, friend) said, "You should put more pictures on your blog, because I am bored."
Even though I do actually have something to post, I'll wait until another day and leave you with this.
The aforementioned person also knows that I, ever since the time I was with child said, "I want to take pictures of my baby in black." Black bodysuits are hard to come by- but she found one. About a year later than I'd hoped, but here it is nonetheless. And- I love babies in black.
