After 4 months of being "almost there" we're there. Almost.
Our main website has been launched! Please visit us at www.purplelemonphotography.com to learn about our pricing, packages, see galleries galore, and read about who we are as a company.
The "almost" is that we have some fun things to add in the coming weeks to make it a more visually-enticing experience, so check back often.
A huge thank you to my software devloper husband who has spent countless evenings (and late nights) over the last many months making this website for me, scratching the plans when I changed my mind about what I wanted, and still having fun doing it, even after developing websites all day long at work. Only bad thing, now that it's done: he has to go to Toastmasters. That was the deal. He'd put off toastmasters until the website was done. Thursday- you masters of toast, watch out! Here comes my hubby. Maybe you could all give him a toast for doing such a great job!
The boys, working on the website. This was a few months ago, back when those delightful jammies still fit.

When my little one was 3 months old, I did a mini photo shoot of him in his crib. Today, he turns 6 months old, so I recreated it to see how much he's grown.
The stats:
18 lbs 12 oz
27 1/2 inches
42 cm head
giggles, smiles, squeaks: check
rolling: check
napping: on my lap

Happy Father's Day!
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Happy First Father's Day to my husband. :) I love you.
And Happy Father's Day to Tom! I had the pleasure of taking two (three) dear friends- a mother-daughter- daughter-on-the-inside combo out to a local university (we've got our fair share in this area) to get some fun outdoor shots while the sun was shining. It has been a soggy week, but the free time we had was perfectly lovely and the sidewalks prevented mudslides. I just want to share a few of my father's day favorites.

Rolls & the start of a modeling career
Monday, June 15, 2009
After the passion displayed in the engagement session from last week, I thought we should lighten things up a bit with my wee babe.
First, out of nowhere, my lanky kiddo got rolls this week.
Secondly, we have a Horton the Elephant (from "Horton Hears a Who") that is the same size as my son. They love to play together by swinging and eating and rolling about. They were wrestling the other day and... Horton pinned him.
My handsome husband took this picture of us, and even though it looks like I have black eye, which I don't, I like it.
And finally, I did the shoot for the Partners for Just Trade this weekend. I enjoyed meeting the interns and their models. And despite the muggy weather and dodging water balloons and gum on the ground, it went pretty well. It was the little one's first modeling experience, and he sure knew how to check out those Peruvian llamas! Be sure to check out their wonderful products soon to get your own shawl or alpaca purse or duffel with embroidered llamas! Even though these were among the products I shot, they did have some great products with great quality! They have wonderful scarves, purses, toys, and bags. There were also fun table settings.

Engagment: Janele & Steve
Tuesday, June 9, 2009
I have written this blog post over and over in my head for the last 5 days. I started before I even took the shoot. Now that I'm here, I'm not sure where to start.
This past weekend, I went on an extended engagement shoot with some dear friends, Steve and Janele. Before they were dating, I saw images of the two of them in my head- together- on their wedding day. Now they are engaged and I am booked for their wedding. How wonderful is that?
As we sat down for their engagement session consultation, we realized that all three of us had the same ideas floating in our heads. We were united in our vision for the day and, let me say, we had a lot of them. Originally, I had been inspired by an article on engagements in Rangefinder magazine last year, and thought- ooooh, Janele would like this! Then I came across the perfect setting to make it happen. A fence made of cement truck barrels. Off we went, a date for two + photographer + Steves' brother/my wedding second shooter Chase. So, it was really a date for four.
Steve plays guitar and Janele is a dancer, so we got to incorporate who they are into the pictures. Janele is one of my favorite people to photograph because, as you can see, she just interacts with the space around her with great ease.
Phase 1:
Then we went for some more urban shots. Coffee shop. Nighttime streetlights.
Phase 2:
How perfect? Agape means Christian love. And it matches her purse. And the red matches her belt. Couldn't get any better than that.

Who can resist overalls?
Friday, June 5, 2009
Who can resist taking pictures of their children when wearing overalls? I can't. Even though my baby was crying when I took these (it was a rough day yesterday), he still looks mighty cute!
Partners for Just Trade
Tuesday, June 2, 2009Next week I will be doing a product shoot for an organization called Partners for Just Trade.
"Partners for Just Trade is a non-profit, Christian organization that builds partnerships between artisans and producers living in extreme poverty and conscientious consumers. [They].. address root causes of poverty through Fair Trade sales, education, solidarity, and a commitment to trade justice."
http:partnersforjusttrade.org
I was poking around looking at some of the products I'll be working with and I have to say, their bibs and purses look pretty great! I know I've got a nice collection of conscientious moms who read my blog, so be sure to check them out and consider purchasing a product to support their artisans out of Peru.
